The health and safety of everyone is our number one priority. As such, due to COVID-19 concerns the St. James Academy Preschool has tentatively scheduled our new start date for November 10, 2020. This new start date will be dependent on the trend of COVID cases in our area at that time. We know that originally, we had planned a Sept 14th start date. After looking into the current situation more, we have decided that a November start would be the best option for Academy staff, students and families to all have plenty of time to prepare and add any necessary precautions.
We are hoping and believing in the power of prayer to a safe start on November 10th so that we have our students back in time for the holidays. As so many of our prior and current families can tell you, we make amazing memories during the holiday season. Thanksgiving and Christmas are very memorable and extremely special moments at St James. We are so lucky to be a private Christian Academy where we can teach and celebrate the meaning of Christmas. We are one of the lucky places that still get to instill valuable lessons, morals, along with Christian stories and beliefs. We do not take this lightly; this is extremely important to us and I personally hold the importance of this deep in my heart. We want nothing more than to have our students back in our classrooms to celebrate and create lots of keepsakes this holiday season.
Many things will be different this year, but we know that regardless of the changes that we need to make and with the support of the families, school board, vestry and Reverend Jessie, we can do this! We can and will have a wonderful school year!
I will send out more details soon on the updated information for this school year regarding the calendar, handbook, and updated changes and policies. In addition to the materials that will be sent out in the next few weeks, we will be posting some COVID related videos that we will be creating. We hope that these videos will help our students once we are able to start our year. I wanted to keep this short to get the message out to Academy families as quickly as possible.
I’m asking that all registered families or families with applications still out please email me directly at colemunro1426@gmail.com . Even if I have spoken to you already, please email me your students name along with if they will still be starting when we plan to start in November, If you plan to defer until January, if you plan on starting them at another time, or if you want to pull their registration totally. Also, again please send me the amount of days that your child is planning on attending in case it has changed since we last sent out the surveys. I know that these questions have been asked multiple times already but with the world constantly changing, we are trying to stay current on our registrations in case your family plans have changed. We do understand that your plans may once again change as well, but this will help us in the meantime to get a closer idea for staffing, supplies and other Academy needs.
This time during COVID has been a weary and anxious time for us all, and if you and your family need some emotional or spiritual support please know our Priest-in-Charge, Reverend Jessie Thompson, is available.
